Mechanics’ Lien Law at Risk

Sen. Andrew McDonald’s (27-Stamford) legislation, Senate Bill 691
“An Act Concerning Municipal Liens for Certain Code Violations”
is being voted on by the Senate by Tues., May 24.
This legislation will create a new category of liens, the Municipal Lien,
and give it “super-priority” over ALL other liens except those
related to taxes. The bill permits municipalities to place liens on properties
for unpaid fines and gives that lien precedence over other liens. To read
