Dear Senator [Last Name]:
I am writing to request your support for passage of the Health Insurance Marketplace and Affordability Act (S.1955) that will be raised for a vote in May. This legislation will allow small businesses the new option of pooling their purchasing power across state lines to negotiate lower health insurance premiums.
Health insurance premiums have been the number one concern for the lumber and building material supply industry for many years. Each year, I am challenged with finding insurance carriers to provide coverage without sacrificing the quality of care offered. It is the desire of this company to offer high quality health insurance to employees and their families; however, the reality is when I am notified of the new health insurance premiums, this benefit is truly threatened. Without a plan for health insurance reform in place, I am fearful I will not be able to continue to offer health insurance to my employees.
The issue of soaring health insurance premiums has far-reaching implications. The premiums I pay affect my bottom line, and influence the potential for wage increases and other employee benefits.
Please vote "Yes" for S.1955 and help the independent building material supply industry afford quality health insurance. Thank you.

Sincerely,
