CBMS
The Certified Building Materials Specialist (CBMS) program
is the only national accreditation program of its kind for the building
material industry. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to
the building material industry and be willing to invest their time
and energy towards learning, growth, and professional development.
Participants must also believe in the concept of customer service
excellence. Introduced in January 1997, the CBMS program combines
a unique mix of comprehensive product and sales training with a
student's hands-on industry experience to produce a true building
material professional. Using three distinct training steps, the
CBMS program provides the tools you need to gain a competitive edge
for your business, while allowing your employees to invest in their
future.
Step I consists
of 100 credit hours of technical, sales, and customer service training
taught by top industry professionals. Students can customize the
curriculum fitting their needs and building on their areas of expertise.
Several core courses are suggested and the LBMDF can work with you
in choosing the seminars that are most appropriate for your business

save 10 percent on all Lumber and Building Material Dealers Foundation
courses.
Step II consists of 50 credit hours of industry affiliated
activities, utilizing the best training of all--real life experiences!
This step of the program rewards students for your additional participation
in our dynamic industry. Step II honors credit hours for participation
in building material trade shows, manufacturer's schools, vocational
courses, college courses, and even community service projects, such
as constructing a children's playground.
Step III is the technical
product training portion of the program

This in-house training program provides over 40 hours (22 CDs) of
multimedia education on the entire residential construction process.
The program provides quizzes and exams, with instant feedback and
content reviews for missed quiz questions. It provides unlimited
use for employers to train as many employees as desired.

Completion of the ILX Construction Training program qualifies for
full credit under Step III of the CBMS program. The discounted price
for members is $495 and $595 for non-members.
