The Lumber and Building Material Dealers Foundation
(LBMDF) is a not-for-profit entity formed under Section 501-C-3
of the Internal Revenue Code. Established in 1968, the Foundation's
primary purpose is to provide education and training to members
of the lumber and building material industry. Through its professional
certification program, Certified Building Materials Specialist (CBMS),
the Foundation also seeks to enhance the professionalism of members
of our industry by challenging participants to meet the highest
expectations of their employers, peers, and customers. |

Mission Statement:
Promote and support investment, education, and research related
to, and for the benefit of, the lumber and building material dealers,
their employees, customers, and the general public.
The bylaws of The Lumber
and Building Material Dealers Foundation state The Foundation's
specific objectives as:
- Promoting and supporting scientific research
relating to lumber, merchandising, advertising, storage, and distribution
methods;
- Promoting and supporting scientific research
relating to the improvement of materials, equipment, supplies,
and other items pertaining to construction and maintenance of
real property;
- Establishing fellowships in institutions and
agencies of research for the purpose of conducting such research;
- Cooperating and aiding agencies of federal,
state and local government, tax-exempt institutions, scientific
research organizations and others in connection with their scientific
and educational work;
- Developing seminars, lectures and workshops
devoted to the lumber and building material industry;
- Maintaining a forestry research library for
the public at large and the building material industry in specific;
- Distributing informational publications to
the public regarding the building material industry.
