Current Legislation

Moratorium on Light Frame Construction

A.1611 would limit or restrict the use of light frame construction in multi-family and multi-use construction. NJBMDA opposes this legislation as it unfairly targets New Jersey building material dealers and the affiliated “light frame construction” jobs, many of which are multi-generational businesses in the State.

State Mandates

A.1446/S.799, paid sick leave, would create a burdensome mandate for all businesses across New Jersey in order to target a select few sectors not currently offering these benefits. Many business sectors offer substantial benefits to their employees to maintain a strong work environment and retain the best employees. Additionally, NJBMDA A.15/S.15, which would increase the state minimum wage to $15 per hour plus require the annual adjustments be indexed to the consumer price index instead of the Congressional Budget Office’s cost of living projections.

Estate Tax Repeal

NJBMDA supports legislation that would repeal New Jersey's estate tax as it hurts family owned small businesses throughout the state.

Lead Paint Remediation

NJBMDA opposes any stricter regulations on lead paint remediation, as the EPA already has regulations through the Lead Paint Renovation, Repair, and Painting (LRRP) Rule.
