New York and Long Island Lumber Association Names Lumber Person of the Year
WOODBURY, N.Y. — On Oct. 27, the New York and Long Island Lumber Association (NYLILA) announced Edgar Goodale, of Riverhead Building Supply, 2016 Lumber Person of the Year. These awards recognize individuals for their significant contributions to the lumber and building materials industry as well as to his or her local community.
A lifelong Long Islander and Riverhead resident, Goodale started working at his father’s lumberyard at age 16. Decades later, Goodale and his brother Russell – an equal partner in the company - have expanded from a single location with 25 employees, to a 14 location operation, operating in two states with more than 550 employees.
Riverhead Building and the Goodale family are active in the community, following the example set by Goodale’s father Jesse. Goodale has served as chairman of the Suffolk County National Bank, director of the Long Island Builders Institute and chairman of its charitable branch, the Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp., and treasurer of the Old Steeple Community Church.
Goodale will be recognized, along with fellow Lumber Persons of the Year from across the Northeast, at 2017 LBM Expo
in Providence, RI on Feb. 16, 2017. LBM Expo is the largest regional event in the lumber and building material industry.
